refused to ride the city buses afterwards witnessing a brutal attack on a preventative of Negro passengers. His fathers
convictions and need to preserve his take in dignity and that of his family helped shaped young Martins
mindsets, attitudes and values. His father always rundle up when he was disrespected and never
accepted that system of segregation.

Compared to most children his climb on Martin was unusually mature and advanced both physically and
