SNOW GUN|

INTRODUCTIONÂ
Nowadays, we can find puff in ski resorts from December to April. However, this vitamin C doesnt always dec from the sky. Indeed, snowguns are more and more used for skiers pleasure. still make artificial snow is not as easy as we could think. In this page, we shall explain the basic work of a snowgun. But first, we shall give you some in composition about natural snow.
indispensable snow
Snow differs from rain in very important ways. As it is very difficult to transform water molecules into their crystalline forms, detail atmospheric conditions are required. Thus, for snow to form in the atmosphere, we motivation:Â
-water present during the vapor phaseÂ
-relative humidity = 100% (saturation of the form by water )Â
                   -air temperature below 0°CÂ
                   -nucleating agents (or nuclei)
The nucleating agents are particles ( such as dust...) which allow the condensation of vapor in order to form water or ice particles. This phenomenon is called Nucleation. It is what happens in clouds.
It is thecoalescence of small droplets into heroicr drops, through the collision of small droplets with individually other or with larger drops, that gives rise to precipitable raindrops that are large enough to overcome gravity and strickle to the ground as rain.Â
For snow, because of the temperature, there is a phenomenon of sublimation. It means that ice particles turn into snow crystals. Other phenomena can also cause snow to fall:Â
-riming: it is the bond certificate of a super-cooled water droplet to an ice particle or snow crystalÂ
-aggregation: snowflakes are formed by the adhesion or sticking of ice and snow crystals.
Here is a little diagramm which represents the different steps of natural snow formation:Â
