Explore some of the ways in which Duffy presents antithetic speakers in her numbers.
In the poem Mrs Lazarus, it consists of 8 regular stanzas. in that location is no particular rhyme scheme conveyed in this poem, withal and the designate length varies in each stanza not with child(p) a particular rhythm to the poem. This poem is written in 1st person. The poem is about the wife of Lazarus, who describes her emotions doneout the poem and emphasis on the melancholy and torment she went through, until her husband was resurrected by Jesus back from the dead.
In the first stanza of the poem, Duffy describes the depth of the womanhoods grief by using ripped, howled, shrieked, claw and retched. Duffy uses these words in set out to really emphasise the grief and utter torment that Mrs Lazarus was deprivation through. In the first sentence of this stanza it says I had grieved this is past tense which suggests that she felt sorrow, but not now. Duffy seems to use a lot of repetition and alliteration such as over and over, dead, dead I rely she uses this to symbolise that she thought of him repeatedly. I believe this stanza displays her almost hating him because he died, which believe gives a sense of resentment over him.
It in addition says Married which implies that she had wed Lazarus the same sidereal day she had lost him, it says ripped the material I was married in this portrays that she got married on the day that her husband died and had ripped her wedding clothes from her body because of her suffering that she went through on the day. Where it says burial stones I believe this conveys the image of a graveyard where she grieved over her loss and it implies that it was a terrifying do it for her.
In the second stanza Duffy talks about the loneliness that she is going through and how she cant stand to live without him.
